Community Learning Centre
A permanent learning centre for 900 children and evening literacy classes for mothers in Jowhar.
The Challenge
In Jowhar, hundreds of children learn in overcrowded, temporary shelters with no protection from heat or flooding. Many drop out, and mothers have few opportunities to continue their own education.
The Solution
A permanent community learning centre with six classrooms, a library and sanitation, plus evening literacy classes for mothers. The centre is designed with and handed over to the community to run.
